WATCH: Roy Takes on His Own Party: Calls Out GOP for Betrayal

Republican Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) exploded on his GOP colleagues during a crucial vote on a continuing resolution aimed at preventing a government shutdown. Not mincing words, Roy lambasted his party for abandoning fiscal responsibility and betraying conservative principles.

In a fiery speech on the House floor, Roy railed against the bill, which he said would increase the national debt by a whopping $5 trillion. He also called out his fellow Republicans for adding $110 billion in unpaid-for spending and suspending PAYGO, a measure designed to enforce budgetary discipline.

But Roy didn’t stop there. He scolded the entire body for consistently racking up debt and doing nothing to address the issue. The congressman pointed out that the national debt has reached $36 trillion, with a trillion dollars in interest, and that we’re adding a trillion dollars every 100 days.

Despite this dire situation, Roy accused both sides of the aisle of being “profoundly unserious” about reducing deficits. Republicans, he said, campaign on fiscal responsibility but then back bills that increase the debt. Democrats, on the other hand, push for tax increases but do nothing to cut spending.

In a final rebuke, Roy reminded everyone that “this is Article 1″—a reference to the section of the Constitution that gives Congress the power of the purse.

Trump, who has pushed for fiscal responsibility and cutting spending, took notice of Roy’s impassioned speech. In a series of tweets, the former president praised Roy and called for primary challengers to take on “weak and ineffective people” like him.

WATCH

As the government shutdown looms and the debt continues to skyrocket, it seems that Representative Roy is one of the few in Washington with the courage to speak out against this reckless spending. Will his wake-up call to his colleagues be enough to turn the tide? Only time will tell.

I would be nice if there were 300 or so in the House that felt the same way he does! The garbage and the swamp needs to be swept away!

Right now we cannot pay off the national debt. Eventually the country will fail and go into a destructive economic depression far worse that the great depression in the 1930’s. When America is finally destroyed by our corrupt politicians, then maybe citizens will finally remove these congressional parasites, but then it will be too late.

The GOP needs to let the government shut down on the Dems. There should be a no confidence vote against every bit of pork in the bills that the Dems are trying to shove through right now in order to create chaos before Trump takes office. Let the people see it is the Dems that caused the shut down.
