Some things never change. The sky is blue, water is wet, and the mainstream media still hasn’t figured out how to deal with Trump.
NBC’s Gabe Gutierrez learned that the hard way when he waltzed into the Oval Office, thinking he could bait Trump into some made-up drama about Secretary of State Marco Rubio and tech mogul Elon Musk. Instead, he got the full Trump treatment—swift, brutal, and downright hilarious.
“You’re Just a Troublemaker” – Trump’s Classic Response
The scene was set: a White House press event meant to focus on the upcoming FIFA World Cup. But, as always, the media had other plans. Gutierrez, looking to make headlines, tried to stir the pot by asking Trump about an alleged “clash” between Rubio and Musk during a Cabinet meeting.
Trump didn’t hesitate.
“There was no clash. I was there. You’re just a troublemaker.”
Boom. Right out of the gate.
Then, in true Trump fashion, he reminded Gutierrez that the event had nothing to do with whatever nonsense NBC was peddling.
“You’re not supposed to be asking that question because we’re talking about the World Cup.”
Translation: Read the room, buddy.
Of course, Gutierrez kept pushing, desperate to keep the narrative alive. But Trump, unimpressed and clearly amused, shut it down even harder.
“Who are you with? Who are you with? Oh, NBC. No wonder.”
And just like that, another mainstream media takedown was added to the Trump archives.
The Manufactured “Clash” – Media Desperation at Its Finest
Gutierrez’s question came from a New York Times report claiming that Musk and Rubio had a heated argument over government efficiency. Allegedly, Musk was frustrated that Rubio hadn’t been aggressive enough in cutting State Department staff. Rubio reportedly fired back, pointing out that over 1,500 bureaucrats had already taken early retirement, sarcastically asking if Musk wanted him to rehire and fire them just for show.
Sure, sounds like a normal debate over policy—not the dramatic WWE-style brawl that NBC and the Times were hoping for.
But the media needed this narrative. They needed to paint Trump’s second term as chaotic. They needed a scandal, even if they had to invent one.
The Media’s Same Old Playbook – And Why It Keeps Failing
If you feel like you’ve seen this before, that’s because you have.
This is the exact same playbook the media ran in Trump’s first term. Step 1: Take a mundane event (or outright make something up). Step 2: Spin it into a crisis. Step 3: Shove a microphone in Trump’s face and hope he takes the bait.
Except, once again, Trump flipped the script.
Instead of falling into their trap, he used it as an opportunity to expose the media’s bias in real time. He didn’t just dismiss the question—he mocked the entire network behind it.
This wasn’t some rookie reporter getting caught off guard. This was NBC News, a supposed pillar of journalism, getting dunked on by the very man they’ve spent years trying to take down.
And let’s be honest—Gutierrez had to know this was coming. There is literally a decade’s worth of footage proving that trying to corner Trump with a gotcha question only ends in public humiliation.
Final Thoughts
Trump’s second term is proving to be just as much of a nightmare for the media as his first. They still don’t know how to handle him. They still fall for the same traps. And, most importantly, they still haven’t figured out that Trump thrives off these encounters.
So, will the media finally learn their lesson?
Of course not.
And honestly? That’s the best part.

So what if they had a discussion or an argument or a free for all. That’s how people come to agreements in their lives. They discuss things , they do not cancel when in disagreement nor bow down to an ideology no matter how insane.
