The Scheme
Monica Cannon-Grant, founder and former CEO of Violence in Boston, pleaded guilty to using charitable donations and COVID relief money for personal expenses. Authorities say she withdrew cash, transferred funds to personal accounts, paid her auto loan and insurance, and failed to report accurate income to get rental assistance. The U.S. Attorney in Massachusetts says roughly $106,003 in restitution is owed and that some of the misused grant funds came from the Boston Resiliency Fund, set up to help residents during the pandemic.
The Sentence
Instead of prison time the judge handed down four years of probation, six months of home confinement, and 100 hours of community service. The court also ordered restitution and a forfeiture amount to be decided later. Federal prosecutors had recommended 18 months behind bars. So the punishment is significant on paper, but includes zero jail time.
The Double Standard
People on the right are pointing out the contrast with other cases where defendants received harsher sentences for far less harmful acts. Critics argue that political influence, public profile, or community standing can lead to lighter outcomes. Whatever the reason, many citizens feel the justice system is inconsistent when it comes to holding public figures and organizers equally accountable.
Why This Matters
Public trust in charities and pandemic relief programs depends on clear consequences for fraud. When donors and taxpayers see big sums diverted from vulnerable people to private use, confidence erodes. Restitution helps, but some argue only prison time sends a strong message that exploiting emergency aid will not be tolerated.

Just another Black woman thief getting away with her crimes. Why is every black democrat gets away with no prison if this was any white woman she would be in prison with out a doubt. There is definitely a two tier justice system and that’s why nobody believes in our justice system. These judges are all corrupt and you can see it every day. It’s time to start removing these corrupt judges and get true leadership.
There is no way this is right…this person deserved jail time if anyone deserves jail time….very disappointing to see this happening
How much did she pay the judge?
No one’s above the law, unless they can play the race card. This “sentence” would not be available to all. Trueor false?
Damn System for the System only & for Estd
This is not let the punishment fit the crime this is a slap on the hand from a crime that deserves certain jail time!! NO DOUBTS! WHY did the Judge doubt jail time??
Just another black democrat getting away with major criminal charges. These judges need to be removed from the bench immediately it’s so obvious that these judges are compromised and corrupt when black democrats don’t get the same punishment as ordinary white people get. If was a normal American they would be in prison for years. Wonder who has his hands up this judges ass and how much money this corrupt judge was paid.
