Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivered a scathing rebuke to Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen after the Maryland lawmaker expressed regret for supporting Rubio’s nomination—all because Rubio enforced immigration laws by deporting Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an alleged MS-13 gang member with a violent criminal history. Van Hollen, who personally visited Garcia in El Salvador—a trip funded by U.S. taxpayers—accused Rubio of denying due process. But Rubio wasn’t having it.
“I have to tell you directly in person that I regret voting for you for Secretary of State,” Van Hollen said, attempting to shame Rubio for upholding the law.
Rubio shot back with a mix of wit and hard truth: “Well first of all, your regret for voting for me means that I’m doing a good job.” When Van Hollen dismissed the remark as “just a flippant statement,” Rubio doubled down, exposing the absurdity of Democrats defending a dangerous criminal.
“We deported gang members … including the one that you had a margarita with,” Rubio fired back. “And that guy is a human trafficker and that guy is a gangbanger and the evidence is gonna be clear. In the day to come, you’re gonna see who you went to defend.”
The evidence against Garcia is overwhelming. After illegally crossing into the U.S. from El Salvador in 2011, Garcia was identified as an MS-13 member based on his attire—a Chicago Bulls hat and a hoodie adorned with money-covered presidential faces, a known gang symbol. The Board of Immigration Appeals confirmed his gang affiliation in 2019. Garcia was later suspected of human trafficking in Tennessee after being caught transporting eight passengers with no luggage in a car owned by a convicted human smuggler.
Even more damning, Garcia’s own wife accused him of brutal domestic violence, detailing how he punched her, ripped off her clothes, and threw a laptop at her, leaving her bleeding. Yet, Van Hollen and a group of far-left Democrats—including Reps. Maxwell Frost, Robert Garcia, Yassamin Ansari, and Maxine Dexter—jet-setted to El Salvador to dine with this alleged criminal, all while sticking taxpayers with the bill.
The liberal media, of course, spun this as a righteous stand for “due process,” ignoring Garcia’s violent record. But the Trump administration stood firm, correctly arguing that Garcia’s deportation—even if initially a “clerical error”—was justified given his criminal history. The Supreme Court ruled that the U.S. must “facilitate” Garcia’s return, but El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele, during an Oval Office meeting with President Trump, made it clear: Garcia isn’t coming back.
This entire spectacle reveals the Democrats’ reckless priorities—coddling violent criminals while attacking law enforcement. President Trump’s administration has consistently put Americans’ safety first, deporting dangerous gang members like Garcia despite Democrat theatrics. Meanwhile, the left and their media allies would rather defend an accused human trafficker and wife-beater than admit Trump’s policies work.
“Alleged?”
I’d say do more research, but it’s common knowledge.
NOT American.
There are many that have committed treason in the past, even today, and will in the future. All are very fortunate that there are no longer public hangings in the square.
