In a recent episode of “The Victor Davis Hanson Show,” Hanson discusses how Trump’s victory will bring a “return to normalcy” regarding illegal immigration, causing pushback from the left.
Hanson warns that when Trump begins deporting even illegal immigrants with criminal records, Democrats will be quick to compare him to Hitler and cry out in opposition. He urges Americans to brace themselves for the emotional reactions from the left, stating, “You haven’t seen the left.”
But despite potential pushback from Democrats, Hanson believes that Trump’s focus on legal immigration will ultimately benefit the country. He explains that while sanctuary cities may refuse to cooperate with federal efforts to deport illegal immigrants, they won’t be able to blame a lack of federal funds. Hanson cites California’s mismanagement of tax dollars, pointing out that despite high taxes and gas prices, the state’s freeways continue to struggle.
Specifically, Hanson mentions Highway 99, known as the Golden State Highway, which has a high number of accidents and fatalities. He argues that money being funneled into boondoggles like California’s High-Speed Rail project has resulted in neglect of vital infrastructure, causing harm to thousands of individuals. This, he argues, is “criminal.”
Despite California’s blue state status, Trump’s immigration policies have already faced opposition from leaders and advocates. They are vowing to fight against any laws that may potentially “tear families apart” and “weaken our economy,” according to Cal Matters.
As Trump prepares to secure the southern border and begin deporting millions of illegal immigrants, it is clear that the left will not go down without a fight. But Hanson, along with many Trump supporters, believes that these actions are necessary for the safety and prosperity of the country.
