TDS: Deranged French Politician Demands Statue of Liberty Back [Video]

The recent outburst by French Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Raphaël Glucksmann, demanding the return of the Statue of Liberty to France, is a prime example of the hyperbolic and irrational rhetoric often peddled by leftist politicians and their allies in the liberal media.

Glucksmann, a member of the Place Publique movement, launched a bizarre tirade against the United States during a gathering of his supporters, accusing America of abandoning the values symbolized by the iconic monument. His remarks, however, reek of political grandstanding and a blatant disregard for the facts, particularly when it comes to the leadership of President Donald Trump.

Glucksmann’s claim that the U.S. no longer upholds the values for which France gifted the Statue of Liberty in 1886 is not only absurd but also deeply hypocritical. The Statue of Liberty, designed by French sculptor Auguste Bartholdi, was a gift to commemorate the centennial of the American Declaration of Independence and to symbolize the enduring friendship between the two nations. It stands as a testament to the shared ideals of liberty, democracy, and freedom—values that President Trump has consistently championed during his tenure. Yet, Glucksmann, in his unhinged attack, criticized Trump’s foreign policy, defense of scientific freedom, and budgetary decisions, accusing the U.S. of siding with “tyrants” and dismissing researchers advocating for scientific freedom.

“We’re going to say to the Americans who have chosen to side with tyrants, to the Americans who fired researchers for demonstrating scientific freedom, ‘Give us back the Statue of Liberty. We gave it to you as a gift, but apparently you despise it. So it will be just fine here at home,’” Glucksmann declared.

He further added, “The second thing we’re going to say to the Americans is ‘if you want to fire your best researchers, if you want to fire all the people who, through their freedom and their sense of innovation, their taste for doubt and research, have made your country the world’s leading power, then we’re going to welcome them.’”

These statements are not only factually inaccurate but also reveal a profound misunderstanding of the Trump administration’s policies. President Trump has been a staunch defender of scientific innovation and freedom, often highlighting the importance of cutting-edge research in maintaining America’s global leadership.

His administration has consistently supported initiatives to bolster scientific advancements, from space exploration to medical research, ensuring that the U.S. remains at the forefront of innovation. Glucksmann’s accusations are nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to undermine Trump’s legacy and curry favor with his leftist base.

Moreover, Glucksmann’s criticism of right-wing French parliamentarians who support Trump and Elon Musk, whom he dismissively labeled as a “fan club,” further exposes his partisan agenda. Instead of engaging in constructive dialogue, he resorts to name-calling and divisive rhetoric, a tactic all too common among liberal elites. This kind of behavior only serves to widen the political divide and alienate those who appreciate the strong leadership and vision that President Trump has brought to the global stage.

The liberal media, ever eager to amplify such baseless attacks, has once again shown its bias by giving Glucksmann’s remarks undue attention. Rather than focusing on the tangible achievements of the Trump administration, they choose to platform sensationalist narratives that do little to inform the public. This is yet another example of how the liberal media prioritizes ideology over truth, undermining the very principles of journalistic integrity they claim to uphold.

Glucksmann is free to attack America in the French language because France was freed by America and its allies from German occupation. His German name indicates that he is a lucky man. What he will not do is save France from the jihadi invasion and the brown socialism of the European Union.

That monument was dedicated to America’s birth and the inscription to a specific group of refugees and never inferred anything about immigration, legal OR illegal.
