The liberal media continues to attack President Trump, this time targeting MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski for their recent meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago. On a recent episode of “The View,” co-host Sunny Hostin accused the “Morning Joe” hosts of being more interested in “kissing his ring” than being true journalists.
Hostin criticized the meeting, saying, “I don’t think you need to sit down for 90 minutes at Mar-a-Lago and kiss his ring to be able to speak truth and be able to cover a story.” She further questioned Scarborough and Brzezinski’s credentials as journalists, suggesting that they are “opinion journalists” rather than true journalists.
But why did the MSNBC hosts meet with Trump in the first place? Brzezinski explained, “For those asking why we would go speak to the president-elect during such fraught times, especially between us, I guess I would ask back, why wouldn’t we?” She added, “Five years of political warfare has deeply divided Washington and the country, we have been as clear as we know how in expressing our deep concerns about President Trump’s actions and words in the course of public debate.”
Despite the clear intentions of the meeting, Hostin continued to slam Trump, accusing him of wanting “state-sponsored media” and only wanting Fox News to cover him. But let’s not forget that it was Trump himself who called out the mainstream media for their biased coverage and ushered in the era of fake news. It’s no wonder he may have a contentious relationship with them.
Hostin also brought up Trump’s past confrontations with journalists, including his hostile interview with the National Association of Black Journalists and his revocation of Jim Acosta’s press credentials. But what about the liberal media’s constant attacks on Trump and their lack of objectivity? It seems they are quick to forget their own actions and portray Trump as the villain.
It’s clear that the liberal media is determined to attack Trump at every turn, even criticizing him for having a cordial meeting with journalists. But the truth is, Trump desires open communication and is willing to listen to other perspectives, as seen by his meeting with Scarborough and Brzezinski. It’s time for the media to put aside their biases and start reporting the news objectively, rather than constantly attacking the president.
