FBI Releases New Description
The FBI says it has a clearer physical description of the man seen on Nancy Guthrie’s porch camera after forensic work on the footage. They describe the suspect as a male roughly 5’9″ to 5’10” with an average build. That is not a Hollywood composite but a focused update meant to sharpen public tips. The agency has been methodical in reviewing each lead and wants anyone with relevant information to step forward.
Backpack and Porch Footage
The video showed the man wearing a black 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack while tampering with the doorbell camera. Small details like the pack model matter in cases like this because they give investigators something concrete to track. The FBI also released the footage publicly so citizens can help identify the person or notice similar gear in their neighborhoods. If you saw someone matching that gear or behavior, your tip could move this case forward.
Today, the FBI is increasing its reward up to $100,000 for information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.

Reward Doubled to $100,000
Officials announced the reward has been increased from $50,000 to $100,000 for information that helps find Nancy Guthrie or leads to an arrest and conviction. That is a clear message that the FBI is treating this as a high priority and wants more people to come forward. Money is not the only incentive. The agency is promising careful handling of tips and is working around the clock to assign investigators to promising leads.
Thousands of Tips, One Goal
Since February 1, the FBI says it has received more than 13,000 tips. Each one is being evaluated by Threat Intake Examiners at the National Threat Operations Center and by agents at a 24 hour command post. Some leads will be dead ends, others worth following. The public should not try to investigate on their own but should submit anything useful to the FBI tip line so professionals can act.
