Netflix CEO’s Kamala Endorsement Backfires: Cancellations Skyrocket!

Netflix, a company already on shaky ground with many conservative viewers, just managed to shoot itself in the foot—again. This time, co-founder and chairman Reed Hastings decided it was a great idea to donate a whopping $7 million to Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. That’s right. The same Kamala Harris who’s been pushing a radical agenda of higher taxes, insane regulations, and identity politics.

Corporations Never Learn

What is it with these corporations and their obsession with leftist politicians? You’d think after seeing what happened to Bud Light, Target, and Disney, these companies would finally start to realize that aligning with radical, out-of-touch liberals doesn’t pay off. But no. Netflix is diving headfirst into the same trap—alienating its conservative customer base for the sake of pushing a political agenda that most Americans simply don’t agree with.

And let’s be honest: this was a colossal mistake by Hastings. Kamala Harris isn’t some unifying, widely accepted figure. She’s one of the most controversial political figures today, known more for her pandering than any real achievements. By backing her, Netflix is sending a clear message to its millions of conservative customers: “We don’t care what you think. We’re doubling down on woke politics.”

Well, Netflix, we hear you loud and clear. And many of us are responding the only way we can—by canceling our subscriptions. I’m personally canceling mine today. I refuse to give another dollar to a company that’s actively working against my values. Why should I pay for a service that supports a politician who’s looking to destroy the very foundation of this country?

The #CancelNetflix Movement Is Just the Beginning

The backlash was immediate and massive. Within days of Hastings’ donation being made public, the hashtag #CancelNetflix began trending all over social media. Thousands of fed-up Americans, much like myself, took to Twitter (or X, if you prefer) to voice their disgust and post screenshots of their canceled accounts. The response was overwhelming.

The Numbers Don’t Lie: Netflix’s Cancellation Crisis

According to Bloomberg, Netflix saw its highest spike in cancellations this year right after Hastings’ endorsement of Harris. The numbers are staggering. Netflix’s cancellation rate in the U.S. nearly tripled, with July 26 marking the single worst day for cancellations in 2024. But why was July 26 the peak? The surge began after Hastings publicly announced his $7 million donation on July 22, and within days, the backlash had spread across social media, culminating in a massive wave of cancellations. The hashtag #CancelNetflix caught fire, with thousands of subscribers canceling their accounts. Now, months later, the data is coming to light, showing just how deeply this mistake has cut into Netflix’s subscriber base.

All this chaos for what? To prop up a candidate who will never secure the conservative vote?

This isn’t the first time Netflix has made waves with its political decisions. Back in 2020, the platform faced intense backlash for streaming the controversial film Cuties. Conservatives were rightfully outraged, accusing Netflix of exploiting children for the sake of “art.” Fast forward to today, and it’s clear that Netflix hasn’t learned a thing. In fact, they seem to be doubling down on bad decisions, believing that their subscriber base will just grin and bear it.

The Larger Issue: Netflix Is Part of the Woke Machine

What Netflix, like so many other corporations, fails to understand is that most Americans are fed up with being force-fed liberal propaganda. We want entertainment, not politics. But these corporations continue to shove their woke agendas down our throats, thinking they know what’s best for the country. Newsflash, Hastings: your millions won’t buy our silence.

Netflix has long flirted with the woke mob, championing causes like Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) while alienating huge swaths of the population. Hastings even bragged about his DEI pledges, like shifting 2% of Netflix’s cash to Black-owned banks. And look, I’m all for supporting businesses of all backgrounds, but the moment you start to make your corporate strategy about virtue signaling instead of providing a service, you’ve lost the plot.

Hastings’ History of Political Donations

This latest misstep isn’t surprising, given Hastings’ political track record. He’s been a longtime Democratic donor, pouring millions into left-wing causes. In 2016, he backed Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential run. More recently, he shelled out $3 million to save California Governor Gavin Newsom from a recall effort. Clearly, Hastings is all in on pushing progressive politics, regardless of the backlash.

But what Hastings fails to see is that this time, the stakes are even higher. With Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee, Hastings has aligned himself with one of the most divisive figures in modern politics. The same Kamala Harris who openly flip-flops on issues depending on her audience and pushes tax hikes that will cripple businesses. The same Harris who is backed by the very elites Hastings claims to stand against. Talk about hypocrisy.

Final Thoughts: Cancel Netflix

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: corporations need to stay out of politics. If they don’t, they risk losing the very people who’ve made them successful. Netflix’s latest blunder is just the latest example of a corporation alienating a huge portion of its customer base to cater to the woke left. And it’s going to cost them—big time.

For me, the decision is easy. I’m done with Netflix. I refuse to support a company that is actively working against my values. I encourage everyone reading this to do the same. Let’s send a clear message: we won’t tolerate corporate America pushing leftist agendas any longer.

I cancelled mine when I found out they hired Barack Obama and Michelle to write for them. Don’t know why a company will Alienate the majority of their customers to appease a few. Well I suspect we will see a retraction SHORTLY.

Netflix co-founder and chairman Reed Hastings better have pulled that Seven million dollars from his own pocket which is his right. But, as a Netflix subscriber who now gets advertisements while watching shows on Netflix, I hope the money from commercials wasn’t used.

The same old CRAP; THE MEDIA is forcing their hatred & bias down our throats. We need to stand up to them; cancel our Netflix and/or whatever other liberal media that is spewing lies, and hatred. We love America and want to protect our Country, our Values, and what we have worked so hard for.

It’s surprising after all the companies that lost business because they put their head up their rear-end. So, Netflix is the next company to think that they are above the clouds and their customers are hooked on them, well, surprise, surprise, they are not and can take their money to another company!!! I love to watch a few serials on Netflix but they stopped showing them, so I no longer turn in and they lost me as a customer!
