Bob Woodward’s latest book, War, is turning heads with its revelations about the behind-the-scenes tensions in Washington. It paints a picture that many of us suspected but never quite saw laid out so clearly—President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama have never been on the same page, especially when it comes to handling the mess in Ukraine. It’s more than just a difference in approach; it’s a rivalry, a deep-rooted frustration that Biden has made no effort to hide. The claims in War give us a peek into the kind of bitter disagreements that have defined their strained relationship.
Biden’s Blame Game: It’s All Obama’s Fault
In one of the most eyebrow-raising moments revealed in Woodward’s book, President Biden is quoted criticizing the Obama administration’s response to Russia’s invasion of Crimea back in 2014. According to reports, Biden, in private conversations with close allies, didn’t hold back. He reportedly said, “They f***** up in 2014,” referring to how the Obama White House handled Putin’s aggression. To Biden, the sanctions Obama imposed were far from enough. Instead of taking military action, the White House settled for a diplomatic slap on the wrist, letting Putin march right into Crimea. Biden claims that Obama “never took [Putin] seriously,” a decision that, in his view, emboldened Russia to escalate further in 2022.
The truth is, this isn’t just about Biden and Obama disagreeing on policy; it’s about a deep-seated frustration that has festered for years. Biden’s stance is clear—he believes that Obama’s reluctance to act decisively against Russia laid the groundwork for the disaster we see today. It’s not a pretty picture, and it certainly isn’t the unified Democratic front they’d like voters to believe in.
Trump Weighs In: No Surprises Here
And if you think the criticism of Obama ends there, you’d be wrong. Former President Donald Trump, never one to shy away from blasting the Obama administration, also shares Biden’s view that Obama mishandled the Crimea situation. Trump has been vocal about his belief that Obama’s inaction allowed Putin to seize Ukrainian territory with minimal resistance. During a press briefing back in 2018, Trump pointed out that Obama “allowed a very large part of Ukraine to be taken.” It’s one of the few times Trump and Biden seem to agree on anything, although for entirely different reasons.
Yet, Trump’s criticisms don’t let Biden off the hook. While Biden is now pointing fingers at Obama, Trump sees Biden’s own foreign policy as nothing to write home about. Biden’s attempts to blame his predecessor for the mess in Ukraine don’t absolve him from his own struggles to contain Putin. According to Woodward’s book, the stakes have never been higher, with Biden and his team desperately working to prevent the conflict from spiraling into a nuclear confrontation.
The “Shadow Presidency” and Kamala’s Rise
Woodward’s account doesn’t stop with Biden and Obama’s clashes. It also dives into the shadow that Donald Trump casts over current U.S. politics. Woodward reveals that Trump has maintained contact with Putin even after leaving office, a claim that Trump’s camp dismisses as fiction. But it’s a reminder of how Trump continues to influence the dynamics between the U.S. and Russia, even as he prepared for a potential 2024 showdown with Biden..
And let’s not forget Kamala Harris, who finds herself in the thick of it as the Democrats’ unexpected presidential nominee. As Biden and Trump trade barbs over how to handle Russia and Ukraine, Harris is caught trying to champion Biden’s policies while also carving out her own identity as a candidate. But make no mistake—her sudden rise as the Democratic nominee wasn’t part of the plan; it’s a result of the raw political brawl playing out in D.C.
A Dysfunctional Democratic Legacy
What War makes abundantly clear is that the Democratic Party is struggling to keep its act together. While Biden spends time trying to rewrite Obama’s foreign policy history, the cracks in their relationship have only widened. This is a party that has been defined by backroom squabbles and conflicting agendas, even as they try to project unity in the face of a global crisis.
And for those of us who have been paying attention, none of this is really a surprise. Biden’s criticism of Obama isn’t new, but Woodward’s detailed reporting shows just how deep those tensions run. As America inches closer to the 2024 elections, these divisions aren’t just political—they’re personal.
Final Thoughts: Dig Deeper Into the Truth
For those who want to understand the real dynamics behind the scenes, Bob Woodward’s War is a must-read. It’s not just about the ongoing war in Ukraine—it’s about the battles happening in Washington and the clashing egos that shape our foreign policy. I find it quite funny how biden is bashing obama about putin’s invasion into Ukraine and not doing anything, while he allowed putin to move into Ukraine and not doing anything except fund Ukraine with billions.
Is that the old adage, the “pot calling the kettle black? or never underestimate biden to totally F*ck things up?
Considering Joe was #2 behind Obama was it Obama who authorized Joe & his kid to go and steal all he can from Russia’ Ukraine & China so Obama could continue his Hope & Change policy to try and wreck America and it’s People. Considering Obama never had a real job in his life except becoming the Jr. Senator from Illinois for 6 months. Hardly gave him the right tools to be #1. Those two are the biggest pair of Phonies That “We the People” can finally get rid of Early next Month. Amen
Obama was a puppet of the Dems to wreck America and he gave it a good start. He is a charlatan and a complete waste. He and his family should be exiled to Africa where he came from. He started our downward spiral on day 1. And the Dems are responsible for all the worst decisions and acts by him. We need Trump to kick ass and reverse ALL their decisions and right this ship b4 it’s too late. Kamala is a bad joke and needs to drop out of the race and let Trump straighten this ungodly mess caused by Dems
Don’t forget that Biden said that he would not oppose a “minor” invasion of Ukraine…
So Biden can be blamed for the war in Ukraine, costing many lives and much destruction in Ukraine.
As a lifelong Conservative American, I never felt uneasy under JFK! Why? He said, “Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country!” If you listened carefully, you realized he was talking about the hypocrites in Washington DC! For that,
he paid for it with his life!
He was a true Patriot first! If Barry Goldwater had been elected the Viet Nam War Memorial would be substantially smaller! Listening to LBJ’s SOTU that first year was disgusting when he said the war effort was good for our economy!”, as I attended so many friend’s and family’s funerals as they were brought home from that war! You tell me, why is it that for four years
we had that feeling I had with JFK under DJT? Why this administration is trying SO HARD to
silence Donald J. Trump? (Nancy Pelosi, “By any means necessary!”)
Notice how Democrats say the quiet part out loud! There’s a Monster on the loose, He’s
got our heads into the noose, and he sits there……………………….Watching! – John Kaye, Steppenwolf.
Obama seeded Ukraine when in office since to date
Referring to Calvin Locke Jr. Here is one line I’ll give to you and our brothers “Citizens of The World hear Me it is not what America can do It is what We Together can do for the Freedom of Man.” So you know this is the very next line JFK used just after The Ask Not line. But there is not another Proud American other than me who remembers it. But I do know this had it only kept raining in Dallas that Day 11/22/1963 that God awful Memory might have never happened at all. It is time to get rid of the Democrats because We The People have not mattered to them for decades. Mr. Obama was groomed by the DNC & Clintons to finish America Off. Thank God he cave us DJT in 2016. Finally a President and an Admin that looked out for We The People at Home and Abroad. We The People must rise up and take back what is Rightfully Ours America One Nation Under God
