DOJ drops a damaging report

The Justice Department has released a report that reads like a warning label for what happens when government picks sides. Pro-abortion groups got the inside lane

In plain English, these groups were not just on the sidelines cheering. They were allegedly helping shape who got investigated and who got charged. The DOJ says officials even asked these groups about the travel and protected advocacy of pro-life Americans. That should alarm anyone who still believes the First Amendment means something in this country.

What the report says went wrong

Among the most serious claims, the report says prosecutors withheld evidence from defense lawyers, tried to screen jurors based on religion, and used aggressive arrest tactics instead of letting some defendants surrender peacefully. It also says career attorneys tracked pro-life activists for years before charges were filed. The report further claims Biden officials gave strong support to abortion clinics while downplaying attacks on pregnancy resource centers. Funny how the outrage machine gets very selective when the target does not fit the approved script. That kind of double standard is exactly why trust in federal law enforcement has been shredded.

Trump team moves to clean house

The current Justice Department says it is taking corrective steps, including pardons for pro-life Christians who were unfairly targeted, civil settlements, firings, and the removal of officials tied to the old approach. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said the department will not tolerate a two-tiered justice system and will not allow selective prosecution based on beliefs. The Trump DOJ also issued a directive saying FACE Act cases tied to abortion should only move forward in extraordinary circumstances or when there are major aggravating factors. That is a major shift back toward restraint, which is exactly what a serious justice system should show.

The report also drew fresh attention on social media after Daily Wire correspondent Mary Margaret Olohan posted that the Biden administration weaponized the FACE Act against pro-life Americans and Americans of faith. She pointed to one email that described a National Abortion Federation official as an “MVP” for flagging pro-life protests that often led to investigations or prosecutions. Assistant Attorney General Daniel Burrows said the conduct uncovered was shameful and accused lawyers of letting the Justice Department become the enforcement arm of pro-abortion special interests.
