During a recent appearance on MSNBC’s “Meet the Press,” Jen Psaki made a stunning admission that the Democratic Party is currently facing a leadership crisis, stating that they are “in the wilderness” without a clear leader to guide them. This revelation comes in the wake of Vice President Kamala Harris’ loss to President-elect Donald Trump in the 2020 election.
Psaki went on to explain that many Democrats are struggling to understand how Harris, who was seen as a rising star in the party, was unable to secure victory in the election, losing both the popular vote and the Electoral College. She emphasized that it is important not to focus on one moment, such as the cheerful demeanor displayed by President Joe Biden during his meeting with Trump, but rather to recognize the broader issue at hand.
According to Psaki, this presents an opportunity for new leaders to emerge within the Democratic Party. She highlighted the fact that with Biden’s term coming to an end and Harris’ defeat, there is currently no clear leader in the party. This offers a chance for individuals to step up and make a name for themselves, by taking on important roles such as standing up against Trump, uniting the country, and addressing economic concerns.
However, the data from post-election exit polls tells a different story. It shows that Trump was successful in gaining support from voting blocs that have traditionally favored Democrats, including Hispanic and Black men. But rather than acknowledging and learning from this shift, some Democrats have resorted to questioning how millions of Americans could reject Harris’ message.
It is time for Democrats to stop underestimating Trump and start listening to what voters are actually saying. They need to understand the reasons behind this surge in support for the former president and work towards addressing the issues that are resonating with these voters. Instead of pointing fingers and making excuses, Democrats should focus on rebuilding and rebranding their party in a way that meets the needs and concerns of all Americans.

I wouldn’t hold my breath if you’re hoping for change from Dems. They’ve turned the volume down on the working class for decades.
