Traffic Blockers Meet a Working Man
Outside the Delaney Hall ICE detention center in Newark, New Jersey, a group of anti-ICE protesters tried to stop traffic and block trucks from getting through. That is a bold move when you are standing in the road pretending you are saving the nation by making working people late. One truck driver finally had enough, got out of his vehicle, and asked the crowd, “What’s wrong with y’all?” He then warned them, “Y’all wanna get locked up?” The moment cut through the noise and showed what a lot of Americans were already thinking: these protesters were not standing for justice, they were standing in the way.
Even the Protesters Could Not Agree With Each Other
The video from Wednesday night showed something almost comical, if it were not so disruptive. Some protesters tried to calm things down and told the others that drivers trying to enter or leave were not the enemy. One woman said the truckers were working people with families, and that vehicles had been allowed through all day. Another younger protester made the same basic point, saying the drivers were working class people just like them. But the louder, masked crowd seemed more interested in barricades, blocked lanes, and chaos. That is the modern left in a nutshell: a public fight where even the protesters cannot keep their own story straight.
More Clashes Break Out at Delaney Hall
Other videos from the scene showed protesters clashing with federal agents and trying to keep ICE vehicles from entering and leaving the facility. Reports and video posts on X showed pepper spray, pepper balls, barricades, and cement blocks being used as the crowd pushed to shut down the area. Federal agents moved to push back, and the standoff grew more intense as the night went on. For all the high drama, the basic issue was simple. ICE was doing its job, truckers were trying to work, and a noisy mob was trying to stop both. That is not activism. That is obstruction with a megaphone.
