Mamdani Appointee Sparks Property Firestorm

Another “Tenant Advocate” Surprise

New York City has a fresh example of what happens when radicals get close to power and the public gets stuck holding the bag. Zohran Mamdani’s new tenant advocate, Cea Weaver, is facing heat after old social media posts resurfaced showing her cheering ideas like seizing private property and treating home ownership as a tool of white supremacy. Yes, you read that right. In America, the place built on freedom, a public official in the making thought private property was the villain. That is not policy. That is Marxism with a haircut.

What Weaver Said

The resurfaced posts from 2017 and 2018 show Weaver writing, “Seize private property!” and claiming that “private property including any kind of ESPECIALLY homeownership is a weapon of white supremacy.” She also pushed for more communists to be elected, because apparently the only thing missing from city government was a louder megaphone for failed ideas. Her critics say she was not talking about rent reform or sensible housing policy. They say she was talking about collecting private property under government control, which is exactly the kind of language that makes hardworking Americans reach for the aspirin.

Why Conservatives Are Paying Attention

This matters because housing is not a game of political theater. Families save for years to buy a house, build equity, and leave something behind for their kids. That is the American dream, not a “weapon.” When activists frame home ownership as oppression, they are not helping the poor. They are attacking the very ladder people use to climb into stability and independence. Conservatives know the truth here: property rights are not optional, and when government treats them like a toy, freedom gets smaller fast. New York voters should ask whether they elected leaders or a seminar in how to wreck a city one bad idea at a time.

The Bigger Pattern

Weaver’s old posts also showed calls for more public housing, rent control, and massive government intervention to fight gentrification. She argued for shrinking the value of real estate, because nothing says “let’s improve housing” like making property worth less for everyone. Supporters of free markets see a familiar playbook here: blame landlords, blame ownership, blame the system, then hand more power to bureaucrats who somehow never make anything better. The left loves to lecture about fairness, but their answer is always the same old recipe of control, scarcity, and excuses.

Social Media Did The Heavy Lifting

Once the posts resurfaced, social media users did what they do best and brought the receipts. One viral post highlighted Weaver saying property should be treated as a collective good and that white people would be most affected. Other screenshots showed her calling for public housing for everyone and praising rent control as the answer to almost everything. That is a lot of confidence for people who keep proving that central planning is a fancy way to say “we broke it again.” The online reaction was fierce because Americans can spot a confiscation fantasy when it is staring them in the face.
