Financial content creator Caleb Hammer, host of the YouTube show Financial Audit, sat down with a 25-year-old activist from South Dakota who goes by the name “Doomsday,” and the conversation quickly turned into a lesson in what happens when slogans meet basic math. According to the episode, she works in corporate finance connected to stadiums, earns about $60,000 a year, lives in a converted ambulance, and was carrying significant consumer debt while arguing against capitalism. That is quite a setup. Nothing says “smash the system” like getting paid by the system, then complaining that the system will not also balance your budget for you.

The Minimum Wage Question She Could Not Answer

The key moment came when Doomsday claimed Americans are forced to work multiple jobs to survive and said people are relying on minimum wage. Hammer asked a simple question: “What percentage of the American population is relying on federal minimum wage?” She answered, “I don’t know.” After admitting she had not met anyone making the federal minimum wage, she guessed 30 percent. Hammer responded that it was less than 1 percent, then blasted her for using prepared talking points without knowing the real numbers. He also pushed back when she brought up waitresses, noting that after tips, the group still did not support her broad claim. It was not gentle, but it was direct.

Socialism Sounds Easier Until Details Show Up

During the interview, Doomsday also struggled when asked to name a country where socialism has worked successfully, according to the clips. She also referred to an immigration detention center as “concentration camps,” a phrase that gets tossed around far too easily in modern political theater. This is the larger problem with today’s activist left: feelings are treated like facts, anger is treated like evidence, and anyone asking for numbers is treated like the villain. Hammer’s point was simple. If you are going to condemn capitalism on camera, you should probably come armed with more than vibes, hashtags, and a calculator that apparently took the day off.
