If there was ever a time to stop confusing activism with governance, it’s now. At a recent town hall in Queens, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) all but dared federal authorities to prosecute her for hosting “Know Your Rights” seminars for illegal immigrants. This wasn’t a fringe activist shouting through a bullhorn outside a courthouse — this was a sitting member of the United States Congress advising people how to evade federal immigration enforcement.
Let that sink in.
And if you want to see the moment for yourself, skip to the 7:56 mark in the video below, where AOC looks into the crowd and practically dares former ICE Director Tom Homan and the DOJ to “come for me.” It’s not bravado. It’s reckless.
When a Lawmaker Becomes the Obstructionist
During her remarks, AOC confirmed that Trump’s former border czar Tom Homan had previously suggested she be referred to the Department of Justice for encouraging illegal immigrants to resist deportation. Her response? A smug, crowd-pleasing challenge: “Come for me.” The auditorium roared in approval — but outside that progressive bubble, many Americans were left wondering: Is this what congressional leadership looks like now?
Rather than clarify or walk back any of her previous statements, Ocasio-Cortez doubled down, claiming her efforts were protected under “free speech.” But here’s the problem: free speech doesn’t cover instructing people how to obstruct federal agents. The Constitution protects your right to speak — not your right to sabotage law enforcement.
From Activism to Anarchy
Let’s be very clear. AOC’s “Know Your Rights” events go far beyond simple education. Her office held a live webinar that walked illegal immigrants through how to avoid ICE agents — from demanding specific warrants to refusing cooperation during enforcement visits. If you or I did that from our living room, we’d be accused of harboring and impeding law enforcement. But somehow, when it’s done from a taxpayer-funded congressional office, it’s called “constituent service.”
Tom Homan, who served under both Presidents Obama and Trump, rightly raised the alarm: “When you harbor, conceal, and impede law enforcement, that’s a felony.” He’s not playing politics — he’s pointing out the plain language of federal law.
The Dangerous Double Standard
The left constantly screeches that “no one is above the law,” yet here we have a sitting congresswoman not just mocking that principle, but openly defying it — on camera — and with cheers from her base.
Just imagine for a moment if a Republican lawmaker held seminars advising people how to avoid the ATF or IRS. What would CNN call it then? “Free speech”? “Community education”? Hardly. They’d demand federal charges before the Q&A session ended.
This isn’t about “rights.” It’s about power — and using that power to protect people who broke the law to enter this country. Worse yet, it sends a message to ICE agents, DOJ officials, and Border Patrol officers that their mission is now political — and that doing their job could make them the next media villain.
AOC’s Real Message: The Law Doesn’t Apply to Her
Ocasio-Cortez’s defenders say she’s just informing migrants of their legal protections. But let’s not be naive. This is part of a larger agenda — to decriminalize illegal immigration through sheer defiance. She’s not trying to reform the law. She’s trying to render it meaningless.
And with every “Come for me” soundbite, she chips away at the DOJ’s credibility and dares them to do something about it — because deep down, she’s betting they won’t.
The Kilmar Abrego Garcia Case: Another Weapon in the Narrative War
AOC’s remarks are partly fueled by the controversial deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national who was mistakenly deported due to what’s being called an “administrative error.” The Trump administration labeled him an MS-13 member — his family denies it. While the case is complex, it’s being used by the Left as another reason to paint all enforcement as “racist” or “cruel.”
Instead of demanding clarity or accountability in that individual case, AOC hijacks the story to paint the entire system as illegitimate, even calling mass deportations “sanctioned kidnappings.” That’s not just irresponsible — it’s incendiary.
Final Thoughts
This isn’t a debate about compassion or immigration reform. This is about the rule of law, and whether members of Congress should be allowed to openly encourage defiance of it.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is playing a dangerous game. She’s no longer protesting outside the halls of power — she is the power. And when those in power use their office to undermine federal law and challenge our institutions to stop them, it sets a precedent this republic cannot afford.
So yes, AOC challenged Tom Homan.
Yes, she dared the DOJ to “come for her.”
The real question is — will anyone?

Idiot New Yorkers Deserve this Brainless Bar Fly so very very much.
What a putzette.
If the lawmakers are doing things against the law, they are not above the law. Sounds like she thinks she is. A case could probably be made for the “how to” on how to evade the laws that she swore to uphold by saying that she supports and defends the Constitution.
I CAN’T STAND THAT WITCH!!!
Lock her up no questions she deserves a dose of legal incarceration, trial, fines, sentencing the whole enchilada.
AOC reached her peak as a bar tender since then she has been going downhill!!!!!!
She should be treated the same as anyone else who breaks the law! No worse and no better.
I’m still trying to figure out how in the world someone like her gets to this level of government?
How brain dead and stupid are the voters in her district or how can the election be rigged to that degree to allow such an idiot to be elected to a governing body of our United States?
It appears that not only is our election process broken, but that maybe we need to begin qualifying our voters in order to assure that they are smart enough to have that privilege?
I’m not against free speech, but I am against ignorance and stupidity especially on a federal level! Wake the hell up people and stop putting big mouth idiot American haters in office!
Well said. I totally agree. She is a barmaid. It doesn’t speak well of her constitutions. Unfortunately, many of our young people are just as much of an airhead as she is and are seeking only the public line light. What happened to the keeping your mouth shut instead of opening it up and showing you ignorance?
Do as she asks…. arrest her and put her on trial…..
