Ohio Murder Video Sparks New Questions

Police Release New Footage

Columbus police have released video of a person of interest in the killing of Dr. Spencer Tepe and his wife, Monique Tepe. The couple was found shot to death in their home last week after officers went there for a welfare check. In a country where some people cannot even make a dentist appointment on time, Dr. Tepe was known for being punctual, so his sudden no-show raised immediate alarm at Athens Dental Depot. Police say the new footage shows a man in a dark hoodie and jeans walking down an alley near the Tepe home around the time investigators believe the killings happened.

What Investigators Say So Far

Police say there was no sign of forced entry and no weapon was found at the scene, which is one reason they do not believe this was a murder-suicide. Investigators also say the deaths likely happened between 2:00 and 5:00 a.m. on December 30 in the upstairs area of the home. Dr. Tepe was shot multiple times, and his wife suffered one gunshot wound to the chest. Their two children were found crying inside the home but were not physically harmed, a detail that makes this case even more heartbreaking. The lack of clear answers is frustrating, but at least police are not sitting on their hands.

Why The Case Drew Attention

The case spread quickly because it hits all the awful notes at once: a respected doctor, a quiet neighborhood, no obvious suspect, and children left behind in the middle of tragedy. Police say they have received many tips from the public and are asking anyone who can identify the person in the video to contact investigators. Anonymous tips can also be made to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers. For now, the family deserves truth, and the public deserves a police department that keeps digging until this mystery is solved. When a family is ripped apart like this, the least law enforcement can do is move fast and leave no stone unturned.
