Paul Pelosi Investigated After Napa County Hit-and-Run Crash

Paul Pelosi investigated after Napa County crash

Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, 86, is under investigation after a hit-and-run crash in Yountville, California, according to the Napa County sheriff’s office. Deputies say the incident happened Friday afternoon on Yountville Cross Road when Pelosi, driving a brown convertible, struck an unoccupied parked car and caused major rear-end damage. A witness told deputies the driver briefly stopped and then drove away. Not exactly the kind of “see something, say nothing” behavior that builds public trust, but there it is.

Deputies say he later admitted hitting something

Authorities said they later found Pelosi behind the wheel of the convertible after a CHP patrol vehicle was seen behind the damaged car, which was partially blocking the roadway. Deputies reported significant damage to the right front of Pelosi’s vehicle. The sheriff’s office said Pelosi admitted he had hit something, but said he did not know what he had struck, so he kept driving until the car became disabled and could go no farther. No DUI is suspected in this crash, but the facts are still serious, and a parked car does not usually jump out into traffic on its own.

A second crash adds to an ugly pattern

This is not the first time Paul Pelosi has been tied to a major wreck. In May 2022, he was convicted in a drunken-driving case after crashing into a Jeep and was sentenced to three years’ probation. Court records from that case said he had slurred speech, watery eyes, an unsteady gait, and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Officers also said he handed over an “11-99 Foundation” card along with his ID. For ordinary Americans, this kind of repeat trouble would raise eyebrows fast, and rightly so.
