Dispute At Barstool Headquarters Turns Ugly
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy says a wild scene broke out Monday afternoon at Barstool Sports World Headquarters in Midtown Manhattan after an Uber Eats delivery driver got into a dispute with Barstool employee Gia Mariano over a food order. According to Portnoy, the company’s security guard, identified as Dan, stepped into the hallway and told the courier to leave. That is when the situation allegedly turned violent. The footage Portnoy posted appears to show the driver knocking Dan to the floor, dragging him through the hallway, and repeatedly striking him in the face. Several Barstool employees then rushed in and pulled the attacker away from the injured guard. Nothing says “normal day at the office” quite like coworkers having to sprint into a hallway to stop a food delivery fight from becoming something worse.

Portnoy Names The Staffers Who Jumped In
Portnoy wrote on X that “Gaz saved the day pulling him off,” adding that he was thankful it was Gaz and not Mintzy who arrived first. He also said more Barstool employees came running, followed by Cody and Travy for the Boys to help out. Portnoy then turned his attention to Barstool personality Tom Scibelli, who was seen in a red shirt retreating into the office and closing the door while others dealt with the attacker. Portnoy joked that Scibelli’s “bravery” could not go unnoticed and said he had “secured and locked down the office.” It was classic Portnoy, part outrage and part office roast, because even during a hallway brawl at Barstool, somebody is apparently going to get clipped for choosing the door over the dogpile.
NYPD Says Investigation Is Ongoing
The New York Post reported that the NYPD said officers responded to Barstool’s Seventh Avenue headquarters at about 2 p.m. after a verbal dispute escalated. Police said a 31-year-old man punched a 45-year-old man multiple times in the face. Authorities described the detained man as a “person of interest” and said the investigation remained ongoing. The security guard was treated at the scene, and no formal charges had been publicly announced at the time of publication. Portnoy said police arrested the individual and joked that Dan “may need a few stitches and a couple beers.” That may sound like Barstool humor, but the basic issue is serious: a workplace security guard reportedly ended up injured after trying to remove a courier from the hallway.
Uber Removes The Courier From Its Platform
Uber confirmed that the courier had been removed from its platform after the incident. “We are horrified by the conduct displayed. Violence is never tolerated,” an Uber spokesperson told the New York Post, while also saying the company was prepared to cooperate with police. Portnoy closed his post with a jab at socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s New York City, writing, “All in all another day at the Stool. Shoutout Mandami’s NYC.” For New Yorkers who are tired of disorder being treated like background noise, this episode is another reminder that public safety is not some side issue. People should be able to order lunch and go to work without a hallway turning into a fight scene.
