Arizona Mother Fights Off Attacker Allegedly Recruited by Fiancé

Police Say the Attack Was Planned

Police say 23-year-old Zarian Dyer arranged an online plan to have a stranger sexually assault his fiancée, Bella Torres, inside their Arizona home. The incident unfolded around 6 p.m. on October 16 near Southern Avenue and Miller Road. Torres was home with her 2-month-old son, who was asleep in a bedroom, and her 17-month-old daughter. Dyer had reportedly left to run a grocery errand when 20-year-old Adrian Ayala of Goodyear arrived minutes later. Ayala allegedly poked his head through the front door, asked to use the bathroom, then kicked the door open and forced his way inside.

Mother Fights Back in the Driveway

Once inside, Ayala allegedly grabbed Torres by the neck and choked her. The struggle moved into the bathroom, where he reportedly locked the door, tried unsuccessfully to undo the button on her pants, and groped her. Torres fought back and eventually dragged him outside. Home security footage reportedly shows her pushing him away, slapping him, and shouting while he pressed his weight into her. During the struggle, Ayala allegedly told her, “Your boyfriend told me you’d be into this.” Torres chased him down the street as he fled. One of the children was also reportedly struck during the chaos.

Police Trace the Alleged Plot Online

Ayala was arrested the next day at his Goodyear home. He claimed he had met Dyer online and entered into a plan to sexually assault Torres, with some accounts identifying Reddit as the platform involved. Detectives seized electronic devices from both men and uncovered communications about the planned attack. Dyer was arrested Thursday morning, October 29, while he was at work near Roosevelt Street and Verrado Way.

Both Men Face Serious Charges

Dyer faces charges including aggravated assault, sexual abuse, attempted sexual assault, kidnapping, and conspiracy. Ayala faces related charges, including kidnapping, sexual abuse, burglary, and aggravated assault. Police have said they do not yet know the motive for the alleged plot. Ayala’s attorney described the incident as a “role-play scenario” and claimed Ayala believed he had consent because of what Dyer allegedly told him. Torres previously told local media that she did not know Ayala and did not believe her fiancée knew him either.
