Maybe she’s right. Perhaps you could say both were made possible by a lack of oxygen to the brains of New York voters. I’d love to be able to buy her for what she is worth and sell her for what she thinks she’s worth.
Oh, and she also compared her election to the civil rights movement. She has already made it clear she expects a seat on the House Finance Committee. All they have to do is push Democrats with over 10 years seniority out of the way so a freshman, with no knowledge of economics onto the committee.
What could possibly go wrong with that?
Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been mocked by her critics for her many gaffes, but her latest bizarre comment is just confusing to many people.
The Democratic Socialist was speaking at a “Sunrise Movement” press conference in Washington D.C. on Friday when she made the comments. She was advocating for a “Green New Deal” to combat the effects of global warming.
“This is not just about a Green New Deal,” she intoned. “This is about a New Deal for the United States of America.”
“Because in every moment when our country has reached the depths of darkness,” she continued, “in every moment when we were at the brink, at the cusp of an abyss, and we did not know if we would be capable of saving ourselves, we have.”
“We’ve done it. We’ve dug deep,” she added. “And we’ve done what we thought was impossible.”
“We went to the moon,” she said. “We electrified the nation. We established Civil Rights. We enfranchised the country.”
