I find it amusing to note the difference between biased news sources such as Fox News’ Chris Wallace and what I witness myself in the impeachment hearings. For example, Wallace stated that Bill Taylor’s testimony was very damaging to the president even though Rep Jim Jordan exposed him as a total fraud. The most damning thing Taylor said during his testimony was that he had a clear understanding that Ukraine would not receive their $400 million in aid from the United States until they opened an investigation into Burisma and the Bidens.
Jordan tested that clear understanding by pointing out that Ukre did not open an investigation and they did get their money. So, neither item that he was positive on ever happened. Jordan said that Ukraine never made any reference to an investigation in the July 25th phone call or in a tweet and not in the press conference. He went on to point out that Ukrainian President Zelensky has now denied being pressured by President Trump to open an investigation at least twice. Jordan then asked Taylor where he got this clear understanding from. He read Taylor’s explanation from his closed door testimony:
“Ambassador Taylor recalls that Mr. Morrison told Ambassador Taylor that I told Mr. Morrison that I had conveyed this message to Mr. Yermak on September 1, 2019, in connection with Vice President Pence’s visit to Warsaw and a meeting with President Zelensky.”
Here is an exchange between Jordan and Taylor:
“Ambassador, you weren’t on the call were you?” You didn’t listen in on President Trump’s call and President Zelensky’s call? he asked.
“I did not,” Taylor said.
“You never talked with Chief of Staff Mulvaney?” he asked.
“I never did,” Taylor said.
“You never met the president?” Jordan asked.
“That’s correct,” Taylor confirmed.
“You had three meetings, again, with Zelensky and it didn’t come up,” Jordan said.
“And two of those – they never heard of about it as far as I know – there was no reason for it to come up, ” Taylor said.
“And President Zelensky never made an announcement,” Jordan said, mocking the Democrats for choosing such a weak “star witness.”
“This is what I can’t believe. And you’re their star witness. You’re their first witness. You’re the guy – you’re the guy. Based on this, based on – I mean, I’ve seen church prayer chains that are easier to understand than this,” he said.
