A recent spokesman for Florida’s governor stated that California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom “might as well light a pile of cash on fire” with his recent idea to run an ad in Florida attempting to attack Ron DeSantis.
Slated to start airing on the 4th of July, the new political ad being sent out by Newsom only serves to fuel speculation that the far-left West Cost politician may be attempting to gather his bases for a 2024 presidential run. However, those on Team DeSantis were only left laughing at his methods and stated that they thought that voters are not very likely happy with the way that Newsom has been running the state of California.
“Gavin Newsom might as well light a pile of cash on fire,” stated Dave Abrams, a prominent spokesman for the re-election campaign for DeSantis. “Pass the popcorn for his desperate attempt to win back the California refugees who fled the hellhole he created in his state to come to Florida”
“The people of Florida pay no mind to the pathetic smear campaigns from the Democrats and their allies in the corporate media,” Abrams was quick to add. “We’re too busy enjoying the freedom Governor Ron DeSantis has created in the Sunshine State.”
The funding for the ad seemed to be coming from Newsom for California Governor 2022. It is the first television spot of the general election for the Newsom administration, reported the Los Angeles Times.
“It’s Independence Day. So let’s talk about what’s going on in America,” stated Newsom in the 30s video clip that makes up his ad. “Freedom is under attack in your state. I urge all of you living in Florida to join the fight — or join us in California, where we still believe in freedom: freedom of speech, freedom to choose, freedom from hate, and the freedom to love. Don’t let them take your freedom.”
The concept that Floridians would agree to leave their state in order to head over to Newsom’s California goes entirely against the recently growing pattern that seems to indicate the popularity of the exact opposite. Back in 2021, well over 360,000 people departed California, with a good chunk of them headed to Florida for its more stable business climate, resistance to the woke culture that has been plaguing California, and lower tax rates.
Despite all of this, and due to the rapidly dropping approval rating of President Joe Biden, quite a few Democrats are claiming that Newsom just may be the possible replacement for Biden on the 2024 ticket.
“Gavin Newsom had to know that this would signal that people would interpret or misinterpret his actions as presidential campaign ambitions,” stated the USF Political Science professor, James Taylor, to NBC 4 Los Angeles late last week.
