While speaking at a Democratic Socialists of America event held in Austin, Texas this past Sunday, squad member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was recorded in a video clip stating that Israel was keeping Palestinian kids in cages, stating, “I don’t believe that a child should be in a cage on our border and I don’t believe a child should be in a cage in the West Bank.”
AOC found herself in deep trouble for her insane and entirely false claims about the Jewish state. The American Jewish Committee issued an official response on Twitter, stating, “@AOC, you know as well as we do that there are no Palestinian children ‘in cages’ in the West Bank. This kind of gross misinformation hurts chances for reasonable discussion and furthers harmful biases. You must apologize for these baseless allegations.”

The sentiment was echoed by the Simon Wiesenthal Center, “@RepAOC demonizing Jews at a time of raging #Antisemitism in NYC. Throwing children into cages is inhuman and cruel. Prove it or apologize. You are legitimizing hatred against Jewish people everywhere.”

United With Israel chimed in as well, “Dear @AOC, I also don’t believe that children should be in cages. Please reply with one example of a Palestinian child being held in a cage by the State of Israel. Ever. Looking forward to hearing from you.”
Dear @AOC,
I also don't believe that children should be in cages. Please reply with one example of a Palestinian child being held in a cage by the State of Israel. Ever.
Looking forward to hearing from you,

Seth Mandel, the Executive Editor of the Washington Examiner Magazine, also took time to hurl criticism at AOC, “‘Ocasio-Cortez’s office did not respond when asked on Monday to provide examples of children being imprisoned in cages in the West Bank.’ Not sure there’s a politician alive today pushing a wider range of blood libels.”

This past Christmas, one staffer for AOC issued a statement about Israel, stating that it is a “a racist European ethnostate built on stolen land from its indigenous population.” Hussain Altamimi, who started out his career with AOC as a legislative assistant that fall, posted images on their Instagram story where he stated, “Israel is a racist European ethnostate built on stolen land from its indigenous population!”
As seen this past September, AOC was seen crying in the wake of a House bill passing to help fun Israel’s Iron Dome, which is a protective weapons system around the Jewish state that helps fend off rocket attacks from Hamas and Hezbollah.
She did not support the funding of this defense system, which was able to intercept over 90% of the rockets fired out of Gaza in May of 2021.
