Jen Psaki, the White House Press Secretary, made use of a selectively edits clip from Ron DeSantis, the Republican Governor of Florida, remarks that he issued on Wednesday. She did this in an attempt to falsely put forth the idea that DeSantis has not been working hard to actively get Floridians vaccinated.
Psaki issued comments about a clip that had been posted to a leftist Twitter account that seemingly wanted to portray DeSantis’ statements in a harshly negative light while outright excluding the vast majority of his statement as a whole.
“Joe Biden [has] taken to himself to try to single out Florida over COVID,” stated DeSantis in the selectively edited clip. “This is a guy who ran for president saying he was going to, quote, ‘shut down the virus.’ And what has he done? He’s imported more virus from around the world by having a wide-open southern border.”
“23% of new COVID hospitalizations in the U.S are in Florida, and their hospitals are being overwhelmed again,” commented Psaki. “We are doing everything we can to help the people of FL, and they’re stepping up by getting vaccinated – we hope @GovRonDeSantis joins us in this fight.”

The doctored clip prominently excluded DeSantis making comments that highlighted the record number of illegal aliens currently being encountered along the southern border and the grave impact that such illegal migration is having on the pandemic as a whole. As reported by Fox News this past Wednesday, one border city alone stated that many thousands of infected migrants have been unleashed into the U.S. under Uncle Joe’s leadership.
As part of the press conference, DeSantis issued his criticisms aimed at Uncle Joe’s big-government approach to attempting to control and fix the pandemic, which has started to take a swift negative course recently under Old Uncle Joe’s leadership. As part of a recent poll coming out of Gallup, it was found that the optimism of Americans concerning the future of the lockdowns and pandemics has bottomed out in the past few weeks, a drop from 89% being optimistic in June to only roughly 45% showing optimism this past July. Uncle Joe has also been seeing massive criticism, even from sources in the mainstream and left-of-center news organizations, concerning his administration’s chaotic and downright confusing handling of the pandemic.
DeSantis has, on numerous occasions, encouraged people to get vaccinated and has himself also been vaccinated. Flordia quickly flew by the goal of getting 1 million seniors vaccinated, reaching the goal almost a full week before the end of January. “Florida is full speed ahead with our Seniors First strategy and it is working,” stated DeSantis at the time. “The state’s reporting now shows that we have vaccinated more than one million seniors, which accounts for nearly 70% of Florida’s total vaccinations to date and is leading the nation in this all-important effort.”
