This past Tuesday, a pair of teenage African American girls were officially charged with hate crimes in the wake of allegedly assaulting a 57-year-old white woman riding on a bus while screaming about how they “hate white people” earlier this past month, as reported by a release from the New York Police Department (NYPD).
The two girls, aged 15 and 16, along with another girl, instigated an argument on a Queens MTA bus with Jill LeCroix on the 9th of July before allegedly bashing her about the head, read a report from the New York Daily News.
The victim stated to police officials that she heard her alleged attackers yell, “I hate white people … the way they talk” before they started to smash her face and head with a blunt object and ran. LeCroix was transported to a local hospital and had to get three staples in her head.
As reported by officials with the NYPD, the pair of girls was taken into custody on Tuesday due to a tip from crime watchers, and the third girl from the incident is still on the run.
LeCroix, who is a grandmother to three biracial kids, stated to the New York Post that one of the girls accused her of being a supporter of former President Donald Trump before striking her on the head. “Before they hit me, the girl with the green hair said, ‘You probably like Trump! Don’t you?’ I said, ‘I love him.’ I didn’t see which one hit me first,” she explained.
“The one with the green hair, she was saying she hates white people, the way they talk, hates white skin, the way their skin cracks. Saying she was gangsta,” expressed LeCroix, adding, “She said, ‘You’re going to get what you deserve! All white people are going to get what they deserve.’”
