This past Wednesday, Netflix officially announced that a famous Ukrainian television series starring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, before his time in office, is finally available to stream in the U.S. on its platform.
This recent announcement cropped up on the same morning that Zelensky was slated to speak to the U.S. Congress through video in Washington, D.C.
“You asked and it’s back!” stated Netflix in its post to Twitter that went on early in the morning on Wednesday.
“Servant of the People is once again available on Netflix in The US. The 2015 satirical comedy series stars Volodymyr Zelenskyy playing a teacher who unexpectedly becomes President after a video of him complaining about corruption suddenly goes viral,” it stated.

Originally, the series was available on the platform from 2017 to 2021.
The series sported three seasons before Zelensky stopped it as part of the announcement of his run for President of Ukraine in 2019, utilizing the name Servant of the People as the name of his political party.
Known as the voice for Paddington Bear for the Ukrainian version of the movie, the former actor has become more well known for his stalwart stance in the defense of his country against the full-scale invasion from Russia.
The increased global notoriety of the President has caused the group in charge of handling the licensing of “Servant of the People,” Eccho Rights, to reach out and gain new agreements in order to bring his show back to online audiences.
“The series is a comedy but also an important document of where Zelensky comes from,” stated Nicola Söderlund, the Eccho Rights managing partner, in a release, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
“His fictional president is a normal man, who grows into his role as a heroic and adored leader. While the real-world scenario facing Zelensky and the Ukrainian people is far more grim and appalling than the comedy of the series, there are obvious parallels with the real-world situation, and Servant of the People is a fascinating, important and historic piece of television,” he continued.
The show has also, very recently, been released in the U.K. via Channel 4.
On the flip-side, Eccho Rights has taken down their Russian content from all platforms and issued a donation of $55,000 to the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Zelensky was slated to speak with U.S. legislators from the House and the Senate as part of a virtual address, as announced via letter on Monday by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
