This past Friday, Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis put forth the argument that many leftists are planning to reinstate all COVID-19 restrictions directly after the midterm elections “if they feel they need them.”
DeSantis shared this sentiment as part of an Expand American Energy forum this past Friday in Doral, FLorida.
“The minute those elections are over, they will impose mandates if they feel the need to do that. They will impose restrictions,” stated DeSantis.
“And so that will happen. If those types of people are allowed to be put in power, my view on that is, they’ve put Fauci in the witness protection program because he will say, you know, no, you should still wear a mask, and he’s never going to say be normal, go back to normal. So they know that, and they know that that’s not what people want,” added the governor.
DeSantis has predicted the return of restriction in the winter of 2022 by various blue states.
“There’s nothing wrong if on an individual basis you make a certain calculation. That’s fine. We encourage you to do that. But it’s wrong to mandate people and restrict people, and that will happen. I guarantee you, winter of 2022, any of those folks that are there, you are going to see that happen,” he went on to say.
“The only way to make sure it doesn’t happen is to have nice, big, red wave. So, we’ll see,” he tacked on.
The strong words come in the wake of comments by DeSantis last Wednesday that called for an end to the whole pandemic theater for his state, claiming, “There is no place in Florida for COVID theater.”
DeSantis issued these words as a caption over a video clip from a panel he was a guest at on Monday alongside Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo and many other medical experts to speak about coronavirus restrictions.

“Over the past two years, the data has shown us what works and what doesn’t work. It is long past time to stop the COVID Theater,” DeSantis stated.
“In Florida, we told the truth, we let the data drive our response, and we let Floridians make decisions for themselves and their children. As a result, Florida is in a better spot than states who used fear mongering and mandates,” he stated.
Earlier on this month, DeSantis took over headlines due to a video that was released that stated that the surgeon general of Florida has established new guidances for Florida workers to give them freedom from the harsh mask requirements.
“Simply relying on outdated CDC guidance when the experience has completely undercut that is not really a reasonable thing to do at this point,” DeSantis stated in a tweet on Tuesday.
“A 9 to 5 job should not be a N-95 job,” added DeSantis.
Florida businesses need to stop relying on outdated CDC forced masking of worker requirements. @FLSurgeonGen Ladapo has put out new guidance for Florida workers liberating them from 8 hour forced mask workdays.
