Canadian Minister Of Families Officially Greenlights Abortion Tourism

An official within the Canadian government has stated that any American women who are seeking abortions will be able to go through the procedure while in Canada in the wake of the leaked majority opinion draft by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito that seemed to indicate the court’s intentions to take steps to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Karina Gould, the Minister of Families head, stated in an interview that was conducted on Tuesday that all Americans would be welcomed heartily by their neighbors to the north in order to get abortions in Canada if the Roe case is officially overturned.

“I don’t see why we would not,” she stated to CBC News. “If they, people, come here and need access, certainly, you know, that’s a service that would be provided.”

Gould also stated she was very “concerned” for both Canadian and American women.

“One of the concerning factors here is that there are many Canadian women who maybe don’t live near a major city in Canada, but will often access these services in the United States,” she explained. “I’m very concerned about the leak yesterday. I’m very concerned about what this means, particularly for American women, but also for Canadian women.”

One spokesperson for Gould highlighted that women from America would need to pay for their abortions in Canada unless they were able to get their individual insurance to cover the costs of the procedure.

Justin Trudeau, the current Prime Minister of Canada, also stated a declaration of his support for the protection of abortion in the wake of finding out about the news stating that U.S. abortion laws might soon be left in the hands of the states.

“The right to choose is a woman’s right and a woman’s right alone,” stated Trudeau on Tuesday via Twitter. “Every woman in Canada has a right to a safe and legal abortion. We’ll never back down from protecting and promoting women’s rights in Canada and around the world.”

These statements crop up as the justices of the Supreme Court are seemingly poised to try and overturn Roe v. Wade, which is the statute that effectively made abortion legal throughout the United States. Since the decision made in Roe, well over 60 million unborn babies have been aborted.

if the current indications prove true and the case is overturned, just about one-fourth of all abortions would still be entirely legal along with just looking at California and New York. This fact has led many to believe that women would just take trips to these states in order to have the procedure done.
