Biden In Hot Water Over Dropping The Ball About D-Day Memorial

Old Uncle Joe found himself in trouble this past Monday for outright failing to recognize the 78th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy, France.

Starting on June 6th, 1944, the invasion pushed 160,000 allied troops (most of whom were Americans, but they were accompanied by Australian, British, and Canadian troops as well) to advance down a 50-mile-long section of the French coastline. Due to the beach and the surrounding cliffs being so heavily fortified by the Nazi invaders, many thousands of soldiers were killed in the first few waves of the assault, but in the end, the Allies managed to secure the beaches and from there push much further inland, marking a decisive victory and a turning point on the European front.

Historically, the sitting president acknowledges the anniversary. This year, however, it was Vice President Kamala Harris who carried out the duty on Monday, stating in a tweet, “On the 78th anniversary of D-Day, we honor the brave soldiers who stormed the beaches of Normandy to defend freedom. We remember their sacrifice today and every day.”

The main thing that many people noticed, however, was that by the end of the day, Old Uncle Joe himself had failed to make any sort of mention of the milestone.

Katie Pavlich, with Fox News, brought attention to the odd omission on Monday afternoon, highlighting that at 3:30 pm ET, President Biden had not yet made any mention of the significance of the date.

After a few more hours passed more people started to speak up.

No White House statement yet on the 78th anniversary of D-DayBiden was also criticized for failing to commemorate the anniversary in 2021,” stated Charlie Spiering with Breitbart News.

“It’s 5:05 p.m. and Biden has yet to acknowledge the 78th anniversary of D-Day. He didn’t acknowledge it last year either,” added on @RNCResearch.

It’s 5:58 p.m. and there are still no posts yet today on any of Joe Biden‘s social media accounts or a statement from the White House about the 78th anniversary of D-Day. This would now be the second year in a row that America’s president snubbed the D-Day anniversary,” stated Greg Price stated as an update.

Jimmy Failla, a comedian and the host of “Fox Across America” added, “STILL no acknowledgement from the WH on the anniversary of the invasion at Normandy. In Biden’s defense, his parents always referred to D-Day as his report card arrival.”

One Fox News producer, Sean Langille, highlighted an article from last year, also highlighting that it was the second year in a row that Biden had not taken the time to even mention the subject.

“His value for the role of the men who served on D-Day, and his memory of them is something the president has spoken to many times in the past,” stated then-White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki in an attempt to spin the subject. “It’s close to his heart. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is more we have to say on it.”
