New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) seemed to pull a play out of the playbook of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez when he chose to wear his political opinions literally on his sleeves as he attended the Met Gala on Monday evening.
Adams made his gala appearance at the infamous event sporting a long tux jacket sporting various tribal designs and the words “end gun violence” embroidered onto it.
The most noticeable point was the apparent focal point on the back which featured a handgun centered in a red circle with a slash through it.

“Bringing a little swagger back to the #MetGala, stated Adams in a tweet along with quite a few photos. “Honored to be here.”

Affinity Magazine, a popular teen publication, also put out a series of photos of Adams at the event along with a caption, “NYC mayor Eric Adams shows up to the #METGala wearing a suit that reads ‘End gun violence’ as if that wasn’t his job.”

Many other critics highlighted the fact that Adams was the mayor and thusly was the one responsible for the actual fixing of the problem, and quite a few more seemed to blame him for putting more law enforcement officials out patrolling the streets, making the claim that the only reason for the rising gun violence across New York City was the fact that there was a larger armed police presence in the area that were the ones causing the violence.
“I hope that the mayor of the largest city in the U.S., which also has a problem with gun violence, sees his message,” stated Andrew Martonik, the editor-in-chief of Digital Trends.

“He wants to be a celebrity so bad,” stated Valerie Complex, an editor and film critic.
“i wonder how many homeless people the nypd brutalized and displaced while eric adams posed for pics in his cartoon tux at the met gala,” stated @mxtaliajane in a tweet.
“@ericadamsfornyc is looking more and more like De Blaz 2.0. Not only is this sort of theater out of touch, it’s insulting to the families who have lost loved ones to the failed policies of progressives who behave exactly like this,” claimed Bradley Stein in a comment.
Adams also took the chance to tweet out his own statement giving thanks to a local nail salon for helping him prepare for the event.
“Thank you to Cuccio Nail Salon in Washington Heights for getting me ready for the #MetGala! It’s #SmallBusinessWeek in New York City — shop local!” he claimed.
