Guidance was put forth this past Wednesday by the Florida Department of Health that stood against “irreversible” transgender treatments targeting kids, making warnings that these procedures present an “unacceptably high risk of doing harm.”
Puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and gender reassignment surgery should not be part of any of the treatment options for kids or adolescents, reads the guidance, which makes repeated referral to their “potentially irreversible consequences.”
“Based on the currently available evidence, ‘encouraging mastectomy, ovariectomy, uterine extirpation, penile disablement, tracheal shave, the prescription of hormones which are out of line with the genetic make-up of the child, or puberty blockers, are all clinical practices which run an unacceptably high risk of doing harm,'” stated the guidance.
Instead, the guidance states, “children and adolescents should be provided social support by peers and family and seek counseling from a licensed provider.”
The guidance from the department makes use of the “most up-to-date scientific data available, and it prioritizes the overall health and well-being of Florida’s children and adolescents,” stated the Florida Department of Health as part of a press release.
The press release makes sure to note that other countries such as Finland, France, Sweden, and the United Kingdom are “currently reviewing, reevaluating, stopping, or advising caution on the treatment of gender dysphoria in children and adolescents.”
“The federal government’s medical establishment releasing guidance failing at the most basic level of academic rigor shows that this was never about health care,” stated State Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo in a release.
“It was about injecting political ideology into the health of our children,” he stated. “Children experiencing gender dysphoria should be supported by family and seek counseling, not pushed into an irreversible decision before they reach 18.”
As stated by the Florida Department of Health, “current evidence does not support the use of puberty blockers, hormone treatments, or surgical procedures for children and adolescents.”
This guidance makes use of a recently released White House release that claimed that “early” hormone treatment, transgender surgeries, and other affirmations are “crucial” for the overall health of teens and children who claim to identify as nonbinary or transgender.
“Gender-affirming care is a supportive form of healthcare,” read a messaging sheet from the office of the assistant secretary for health. “It consists of an array of services that may include medical, surgical, mental health, and non-medical services for transgender and nonbinary people.”
The phrase gender-affirming care is a phrase made popular by the media and transgender activists in order to mask the extremely grisly sounding bottom and top transgender surgeries, which include the removal of a biological males genitals, the sculpting of a fake penis on a biological woman, the removal of a biological woman’s breasts, and the facial masculinization or feminization of the person, along with many more procedures.
