In a recent and odd turn of events, Sen. Mitt Romney has praised ‘genuinely good man’ Old Uncle Joe, who has previously accused Romney of trying to plot to put black people ‘back in chains’. as part of a column for Independence Day in The Atlantic, an extremely far-left online periodical.
The failed presidential candidate from the 2012 run and Utah Republican’s “pox on both their houses” approach called out Democrats for heavily expanding the national debt and throwing open the border while at the same time calling out Republicans for shrugging off the January 6th Capitol Riots and climate change worries. This country needs a true leader, stated Romney via a magazine owned by Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of late Apple founder Steve Jobs.
“President Joe Biden is a genuinely good man, but he has yet been unable to break through our national malady of denial, deceit, and distrust,” exclaimed Romney. “A return of Donald Trump would feed the sickness, probably rendering it incurable.”
The basic idea being spouted by Romney is that Americans from both parties are in severe denial and not at all prepared to deal with the challenges that befall us. However, while his odd and quite lofty praise for Biden is surprising for some, his angry and charged attack against Trump would not surprise anyone.
Romney has not at all tried to keep is a secret about his extreme dislike for Trump. As part of the 2016 presidential race, he labeled Trump as a “fraud” and then later a “phony.” In the wake of him taking his seat in the Senate back in 2018, Romney, on two separate occasions, voted in favor of carrying out impeachment procedures against Trump, First for allegedly blocking aid from going to Ukraine in order to strongarm Kyiv into looking into Biden’s family dealings there and another time due to Trumps alleged involvement in the January 6th riots.
Many users on Twitter highlighted that Biden would not be one to return the compliments to Romney. Back in 2012, when Biden still held the role of Vice-President, he accused Romney of wanting to once again enslave black Americans.
“Romney wants to let the—he said in the first 100 days, he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules –unchain Wall Street,” Biden stated to a crowd that mostly consisted of minorities in a Danville, Virginia. “They’re going to put y’all back in chains!”

“This is why most Republicans can’t stand Mitt Romney,” stated a social media post from BonchieRedState. “Forget the predictable hysteria about Donald Trump for a moment. Presenting Biden as some kind of innocent bystander who just hasn’t been able to ‘break through’ is nuts. Absolutely nuts.”
Romney spoke out about the type of person he wants to see sitting in the oval office for 2024 but refrained from naming anyone.
“I hope for a president who can rise above the din to unite us behind the truth,” he explained. “Several contenders with experience and smarts stand in the wings; we intently watch to see if they also possess the requisite character and ability to bring the nation together in confronting our common reality.”
