State Department staffer, David Holmes, who claims to have overheard a conversation between President Trump and US ambassador to the European Union, says that Gordon Sondland told Trump that Ukrainian President Zelensky “loves your a**”. Holmes testified in Schiff’s Chamber of Secrets and somehow, even though it was supposed to be secret, Holmes prepared statement was leaked to the press just like so many things that Democrats think will help their case has.
Holmes’ testimony supposedly establishes that President Trump was interested in investigations into corruption in the Ukraine, including why a drug addict with no experience in Ukraine or energy would be hired and paid $83,333 dollars a month and why his daddy would then have the prosecutor looking into the case fired.
Someone is lying here. Either Ukrainian ambassador Bill Taylor or Holmes. Taylor says that he just found out about the conversation last Friday, but Holmes said he told the entire embassy staff including Taylor several times beginning in July. There is also some question about whether Holmes revealed information that violated rules around classified and privileged communications.
State Department staffer David Holmes, the aide who claims to have overheard President Donald Trump talking to U.S. Ambassador to the E.U. Gordon Sondland the day after his July 25 conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, testified in a closed-door impeachment inquiry hearing at the House Intelligence Committee Friday afternoon that he overheard Sondland telling President Trump that President Zelensky “loves your ass.”
The fact that Holmes claimed to have overheard the conversation was revealed on Wednesday, during the first public hearing in the impeachment inquiry, when Charge d’affaires William Taylor updated his own closed-door testimony from last month. The testimony added little, but confirmed Trump was interested in Ukraine undertaking “investigations” into 2016 election interference and the circumstances in which former Vice President Joe Biden forced the ouster of a prosecutor overseeing a probe into Burisma, where his son Hunter was a board member. (The testimony may also, as Breitbart News noted, have violated rules around classified and privileged communications.)
