The Thomas Fire is the current wildfire in California ravaging its way across SoCal. It has burned through hundreds of thousands of acres and has taken lives already… now including fire apparatus engineer Cory Iverson, 32.

In a statement Chief Ken Pimlott, the director of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, said: “I am very saddened to report that a firefighter fatality has occurred on the Thomas Incident.”

“Please join me in keeping our fallen firefighter and his loved ones in your prayers and all the responders on the front lines in your thoughts as they continue to work under extremely challenging conditions.”

“While we continue to process this tragic loss, we must keep our focus on the fire. The firefight in front of us continues to go on,” he said. “The communities we are protecting are depending on us, and we will not fail.”

Cory Overson leaves behind a wife and 2-year-old daughter, Evie, and they’re expecting a second child in mere months. Truly tragic and we’ll be praying for them.

Unlike many Hollywood elites, famed and legendary actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, oh and former California governor lol, is trying to raise money to help the California Fire Foundation.

According to their website, they aim toward “Providing emotional and financial assistance to families of fallen firefighters, firefighters and the communities they protect.”

Let's Pump Up the California Fire Foundation

I want to thank the brave men and women who are protecting my home and many others throughout California right now. You are the real action heroes. Please join me in supporting the California Fire Foundation. They provide resources for firefighters, their families, and the victims of fires. I'm chipping in $50,000 and I'm challenging all of you, together, to match me! Click the donate button and give whatever you can.

Across two posts, Schwarzenegger said “I want to thank the brave men and women who are protecting my home and many others throughout California right now. You are the real action heroes. Please join me in supporting the California Fire Foundation. They provide resources for firefighters, their families, and the victims of fires. I’m chipping in $50,000 and I’m challenging all of you, together, to match me! Click the donate button and give whatever you can.”

Then early yesterday, “I have just heard the terrible news that we lost one of our brave firefighters battling the Thomas Fire, which is now the fourth largest in state history. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. These are the real action heroes, and they, along with their families and the victims of these fires, deserve our support. Please give to the California Fire Foundation if you anything to spare.”
